ELIZABETH, New Jersey — A man found shot in northern New Jersey has died from his wounds.

Union County prosecutors say Elizabeth police found 24-year-old city resident Sutton West around 5:30 p.m. Monday, when they responded to reports of shots fired to the 200 block of Pine Street.

West was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Few details about the shooting have been disclosed, including what type of weapon was used or how many shooters may have been involved.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
