Strong thunderstorms with heavy rain possible over areas of Wyoming already saturated

CHEYENNE, Wyoming — A flash flood watch has been posted for northern and central Wyoming.

The National Weather Service says the watch from 3 p.m. Monday through Tuesday is mainly for areas east of the continental divide.

Strong thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible over the area, which is already saturated from rain over the previous weeks and where many rivers and streams are running near flood stage.

The watch includes Casper, Riverton, Lander, Worland, Cody, Buffalo, Thermopolis, Douglas and Lusk.

Elsewhere, the Laramie River at Laramie is expected to crest Monday night at almost a foot above flood stage and then begin to recede and eventually fall below flood stage early Wednesday.
