HELENA, Montana — A Missoula man has claimed a record $410,000 Montana Cash jackpot while a man from Winifred won the second-tier prize in the Lucky for Life drawing.

Montana Lottery officials say James Schiewek of Missoula bought his winning ticket at Fast Trop in Missoula. He says the money is going to pay for his daughter's college education and a trip to Canada.

Dale Smith of Winifred won $25,000 a year for life in the Lucky for Life game. He says workers at Winifred Grocery told him to check his ticket because they knew they had sold a winning ticket and he was one of a few people who played the game.

Smith decided to take his winnings as a lump sum, which came to over $390,000 before taxes.
