LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — Newly-seated Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope has been fined for filing his campaign finance report late.
Pope was fined $660 for filing his campaign finance report 11 days late. That's according to the Louisiana Ethics Administration's online files.
The Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/1AH26nN) Pope could face an additional fine for filing his personal financial disclosure documents more than two months late.
Pope should have filed that form within three days of Aug. 22, the last day to qualify for the Nov. 4 election. He didn't and the ethics administration sent him via certified mail a notice of delinquency that was returned unclaimed. That was followed by a subpoena on Oct. 31 advising Pope to file the document by Nov. 21.
He filed that report on Dec. 3.
