NEW ORLEANS — A state grand jury has indicted a New Orleans woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of her husband and attack upon two dogs.

The New Orleans Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1Qa7Nof) 62-year-old Brenda Jacobs was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated cruelty to animals.

Police say the suspect's husband, 63-year-old Billie Ray Jacobs, was found dead Oct. 30 inside his home after relatives had been trying to contact him. Police estimate he had been dead for at least 48 hours.

Brenda Jacobs was also found at the home, along with two stabbed dogs, which survived.

According to an arrest warrant, Brenda Jacobs told police she "found herself stabbing" her husband after he demanded she give him money for liquor.

She's being held on bond. It isn't clear if she has an attorney.
