COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — A 31-year-old man charged in a fatal shooting outside a Colorado Springs bar has been convicted of first-degree murder.

The Gazette reports ( ) a jury on Friday found Jason Romeo Forbes guilty in the May 6 death of 38-year-old David Johnson. Forbes is scheduled to be sentenced April 22.

He also was convicted of the attempted murder of Javar Harrison, who was hospitalized but survived the shooting.

Investigators say the shooting appeared to be a drug deal gone bad.

Johnson's stepfather, Howard Sheley, said after the verdict that "my breath has been constricted for the last eight or nine months. And now I can breathe."
