IRONDEQUOIT, New York — Authorities say more human remains have been found in a suburban Rochester park where other remains were discovered earlier this month.

Police in the town of Irondequoit (uh-RAHN'-duh-kwoyt) say the new discovery was made Tuesday evening by investigators combing an area off Kings Highway in Durand Eastman Park.

The discovery comes nine days after police reported that a hiker had found human remains in a wooded gully less than 100 feet from the road.

Police believe the remains belonged to a male, but haven't confirmed the gender yet. Officials believe the remains had been in the gully between two and 14 years.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office has enlisted the help of an anthropologist to help with the analysis of the skeletal remains.
