MARION, South Carolina — Authorities say a man lying in the road has been struck and killed in Marion.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson told media outlets that Michael Briggs Jr. was hit around 3:30 a.m. Saturday while in the road on U.S. Highway 76 near a gas station.

The driver left the scene, but was later found by police. The investigation continues, and no charges have been filed.
