FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina — The owner of a Cumberland County nursing home is facing several charges after authorities say she took money and pain medications from elderly patients who were in her care.

A statement from the sheriff's office Thursday said 54-year-old Victoria Diane White is facing charges that include financial transaction card theft and obtaining controlled substances by fraud.

Spokeswoman Debbie Tanna says detectives had received complaints about White. The sheriff's financial crimes unit began collecting evidence, including surveillance video showing White at various ATMs using the patient's debit card.

Investigators say White gave the card to a friend, who also made withdrawals from the patient's account.

White is jailed under a $100,000 bond. She was scheduled to make a first court appearance on Friday. It's not known if she has an attorney.
