CHARLESTON, South Carolina — Authorities are investigating a weekend traffic accident that killed two people and injured a third on Interstate 26 near Ridgeville northwest of Charleston.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet tells local media outlets that the accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities say a car hit the back of another car in the eastbound lanes of the highway, sending both vehicles off the road and into trees.
Nisbet says 32-year-old Ramesses Mahdee of Moncks Corner was driving the car that hit the other vehicle in the rear. Forty-two-year-old Tommy Barrett of Gaston was in the car struck from behind. Both were killed.
A passenger in the Barrett's car was taken to a nearby hospital.
