Two rafters are safe after a raft overturned in a fast-moving section of the South Fork Stillaguamish River in the Arlington, Washington, area. (June 27)

ARLINGTON, Washington — Two rafters are safe after a raft overturned in a fast-moving section of the South Fork Stillaguamish River in the Arlington, Washington, area.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports (http://is.gd/ZMImcd) that one man clung to some fallen tree branches Thursday afternoon until a swift water rescue team could reach him by hovercraft.

Arlington Rural Fire District Chief Travis Hots says a second man quickly made it to shore but couldn't climb up a 15-foot bank. Rescuers dropped a rope to him and he climbed out safely.

The raft overturned in the middle of the river. Hots says both men were wearing life jackets.
