UWCHLAND, Pennsylvania — A former truck driver has been charged with homicide by vehicle and related counts in the death of a Pennsylvania Turnpike worker last year.
The Daily Local News of West Chester (http://bit.ly/1KSUXvh ) reports that 28-year-old Efrain Jensen of Salem, New Jersey, was arraigned Tuesday after turning himself in to police.
Authorities said Jensen's tractor-trailer entered a lane on the Pennsylvania Turnpike that was closed for maintenance in June and struck two workers, killing 61-year-old William McGuigan.
Jensen appeared in district court in Chester County without a lawyer and told the judge "I'm not trying to run from this." Prosecutors said he was remorseful and had cooperated with authorities. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bail; a listed number to contact him for comment on the charges couldn't be found Tuesday.
