ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey — The New Jersey state agency that oversees Atlantic City's tourism district says it is hiring a consultant to investigate whether it's worth adding a port for cruise ships to stop there.

The idea has been floated by Mayor Don Guardian.

The new study Authority is preliminary, says John Palmieri, the executive director of the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development, which is funding it.
