SEATTLE — Landon Donovan scored one goal and set up the other two as Los Angeles won 3-0 at MLS Eastern Conference leader Seattle on Monday.

Donovan set up Gyasi Zardes' eighth-minute opener, then scored off a rebound 10 minutes later.

The former U.S. international, who was contentiously overlooked for the World Cup, also played a role in Stefan Ishizaki's goal in the 36th minute.

The three early goals threatened to produce a worst-ever home defeat for the Sounders, but they managed to avoid matching the record home loss of 4-0, also against the Galaxy, in 2010.
