RAPID CITY, South Dakota — A Pennington County sheriff's deputy was treated at a Rapid City hospital for a leg injury and released after authorities say he was struck by a vehicle while trying to apprehend a suspect.
The sheriff's office says Deputy Shawn Stalder was trying to arrest a woman for a probation violation Monday afternoon when she got into a sport utility vehicle. Stalder tried to wrestle her from the vehicle but she drove off and ran over his left leg.
The woman was later arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
