NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania — A former suburban Philadelphia attorney serving prison time for illegally selling prescription painkillers is fighting attempts by prosecutors and his former law partner to seize $8,000 that was taken from his home during the drug investigation.
The (Pottstown) Mercury reports (http://bit.ly/1g3w6rk ) 54-year-old Gregory Noonan testified that the money was supposed to be for emergencies. But Montgomery County prosecutors say it was from drug dealing and should be forfeited, along with two guns.
Noonan's former law partner, John Walfish, says the money was withdrawn by Noonan from the law firm's accounts and should be turned over to him.
Noonan is serving five to 15 years for two crimes committed between 2012 and 2013. He pleaded guilty to stealing $87,500 from a client and selling oxycodone to an undercover police officer.
