SEATTLE — A dramatic fire at a three-story condominium building in Seattle's densely populated Queen Anne neighborhood burned through the roof and sent up a cloud of smoke visible across the city.

Seattle Fire Department Lt. Sue Stangl said firefighters went into the building late Thursday afternoon and made sure all residents were evacuated, then began fighting the fire. No one was hurt.

Stangl said fire damage was contained to the top floor and roof but there was water damage throughout the building.

An investigation into the cause was expected to begin Friday.

This story has been corrected to show the fire was in a condo building, not an apartment building.
