JERSEY CITY, New Jersey — More citizen soldiers will be leaving New Jersey for the Middle East.

Nearly 170 troops will depart the National Guard armory in Jersey City on Saturday for duty in the Persian Gulf.

Members of Alpha Company, 2-113th Infantry Battalion come from 15 of New Jersey's 21 counties. Most live in Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic and Union counties.

The company will provide security for a U.S. Navy facility in Bahrain during its one-year deployment.

The soldiers have deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Iraq since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
