COLUMBUS, Mississippi — The Mississippi-Alabama Rural Tourism Conference is coming to Columbus.

The conference will be held Oct. 24-26, 2016, at the Courtyard Marriott

The annual conference is hosted alternately between Mississippi and Alabama.

This year's conference will be held Oct. 19-21 in Rogersville, Alabama. Greenwood, Mississippi, hosted the 2014 conference

Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Nancy Carpenter says the city first hosted the conference in 2008. Greenwood hosted the 2014 conference.

The meeting is expected to draw between 150 and 175 visitors.

Carpenter says speakers range from small restaurant owners and downtown developers to sporting event managers.

Carpenter says the three-day conference will include a guided tour of Columbus attractions, a "dine around" featuring local restaurants and a night of Blues, food and beverages at the newly restored pedestrian bridge.
