OXFORD, Mississippi — The Oxford City Council is expected to vote Aug. 19 on revisions made to the local taxi ordinance.

When the first revision of the ordinance was presented in June, many objections to the proposed changes were voiced. The council revised it.

On Tuesday, there was little public comment on the revised ordinance.

The revision ordinance sets out a rate fee of $10 for each person in the cab going to the same location and $2.50 for each additional stop.

It also requires each taxi to post the rates. Smoking will be prohibited in taxis.

All cabs will be required to have security cameras that will be inspected by the Oxford Police Department.
