BOSTON — The Massachusetts Democratic Party is already gearing up for the next election with a series of regional organizing meeting it plans to launch this week.

The first meeting takes place Monday in Shrewsbury.

Democratic Party press secretary Pat Beaudry said the goal of the meetings is to give local Democratic activists a chance to share ideas about the future of the party.

Beaudry said the work that is done in the very early stages of the next campaign — including registering voters, raising money and recruiting candidates — is key to victory.

The party is still stinging for having lost the governor's race last year.

The meeting in Shrewsbury is the first of nine over the next few months including meetings in Lynn, Framingham, Springfield, New Bedford, Lowell, Plymouth, Boston, and Pittsfield.
