Obama's fundraiser on Thursday will benefit the Democratic National Committee. The DNC says about 25 donors paid up to $32,400 — the legal maximum — to attend.
The fundraiser comes as Democrats seek to shore up their candidates in the final days of the midterm elections. Obama has been raising money aggressively for Democrats all year but only started making public campaign appearances with candidates recently.
Unlike most of Obama's fundraisers in private homes, this one is closed to the press, so the public won't know what's said inside. White House spokesman Josh Earnest says having reporters at smaller, intimate events would prevent Obama from having a candid conversation with donors.
