21-year-old driver dies after car crashes into utility pole in Phoenix


PHOENIX — Phoenix firefighters say one person has died after a car crashed into a utility pole.

Fire spokesman Ardell Deliz says the crash happened Sunday morning in south Phoenix near 15th Street and Broadway Road.

Deliz says the car hit an electrical pole for an unknown reason.

The 21-year-old driver was found dead at the scene.

Police are investigating.

It is not clear if driving impairment or speed were factors.

The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of next of kin.
