Ishpeming gets 3 TDs from quarterback, wins Division 7 championship over Pewamo-Westphalia

DETROIT — Quarterback Ozzy Corp ran for three touchdowns to lead Ishpeming over Pewamo-Westphalia, 22-16, in the Division 7 state championship game Saturday.

It is the third title in the last four seasons and fifth overall for Ishpeming (13-0). Pewamo-Westphalia (13-1) made its second appearance in a championship game after losing in 2011.

The Pirates led 16-0 in the second quarter after Jared Smith scored on a 25-yard run and Jimmy Lehman threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Thelen. But Ishpeming fought back, thanks to Corp's legs.

His second touchdown in the third quarter cut Pewamo's lead to 16-14. Corp's 1-yard sneak late in the game gave Ishpeming the lead and a victory.
