GREAT FALLS, Montana — The Cascade County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Great Falls gas station clerk who authorities say sold alcohol to a teenager who later died in a crash.

Sheriff Bob Edwards said in a statement Thursday that 21-year-old Marshall Sutherland was arrested on suspicion of unlawful transactions with children.

Edwards says investigators believe alcohol contributed to the early Sunday crash that killed 19-year-old Jennifer Elizabeth Boushee.

The Montana Highway Patrol previously said Boushee's sport-utility vehicle struck a pothole, then slid and rolled off the roadway.

Edwards says Boushee bought a 30-pack case of beer and 18-pack case of a malt beverage from the gas station and attended a party before the crash.

Investigators found empty containers in Boushee's vehicle. They have sent toxicology samples to the Montana State Crime Lab for analysis.
