LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana — A Lake Charles woman is being held on $51,000 bond following her arrest on a charge of cruelty to the infirmed.

Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputies arrested 40-year-old Jessica T. Malveaux last Friday after they found that she hadn't been feeding or bathing the victim adequately and had left the woman inside the house without air conditioning. Malveaux, a relative and caretaker for the victim, also is accused of stealing the victim's prescription medication and removing the victim's phone and remote 911 emergency button.

The sheriff's office, in a news release Monday, said Malveaux was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on the cruelty charge and theft under $500.
