MESA, Arizona — Authorities have arrested a Mesa woman in connection with the death of her baby daughter last month.
Mesa police say 29-year-old Aminda Giebel is being held on suspicion of child abuse, contributing to delinquency and permitting health to be imperiled by neglect in the June 5 death of 2-year-old Joylynne Giebel.
Police previously arrested the girl's 27-year-old stepfather.
Andrew Isaacs is accused of manslaughter and several counts of child abuse.
Police say Aminda Giebel wasn't home when her daughter was injured, but was home for several hours before the injury was discovered and allegedly didn't seek medical attention.
Isaacs called police and reported that Joylynne wasn't breathing.
Police found obvious signs of abuse, including bruising to the girl's forehead, face and ear. She was pronounced dead at a Mesa hospital.
