Construction worker struck, killed on I-89 in South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vermont — Vermont State Police say a car traveling on Interstate 89 northbound struck and killed a construction worker removing fog line markers on the highway in South Burlington.

The accident happened at about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police say 61-year-old Robert Stanhope of Richford was struck. An emergency medical service worker who was traveling north stopped to render aid. Stanhope died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the car was 22-year-old Emma Gentry of South Burlington. They are still investigating the accident.
