Real Madrid's $78M payment from UEFA tops Champions League prize money table

NYON, Switzerland — Champions League winner Real Madrid got the biggest UEFA payment from this season's tournament with 57.4 million euros ($78.3 million).

UEFA says the 32 teams which qualified for the group stage shared 904 million euros ($1.23 billion) in prize money and bonuses.

Paris Saint-Germain was second in the money table, getting 54.4 million euros ($74.2 million) despite losing in the quarterfinals.

PSG scored well by claiming a big share of French television rights money. However, UEFA is withholding 20 million euros ($27.3 million) as a fine for overspending.

Atletico Madrid, the beaten finalist, was third with 50 million euros ($68.2 million).

UEFA says Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Barcelona all earned at least 40 million euros ($54.5 million).

Anderlecht's 12.2 million euros ($16.6 million) payment was the lowest.
