NEW ORLEANS — It's been nearly two years since fire destroyed the Hubig's Pies factory in New Orleans and there are few signs the bakery's fried treats will return to store shelves any time soon.

Co-owner Otto Ramsey tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (http://bit.ly/1mFztFD ) that Hubig's still plans to rebuild but the timetable isn't set.

Last summer, the New Orleans City Council granted a conditional-use permit allowing the company to build a 16,000-square-foot factory on Press Street. Ramsey says Hubig's remains interested in the site.

Ramsey, who owns Hubig's with partner Lamar Bowman, would not discuss reasons for the delay in rebuilding.
