LINCOLN, Nebraska — An 18-year-old from Omaha has been sentenced to prison for the armed robbery of a Lincoln convenience store.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (http://bit.ly/1wndnqp ) that Luis Ayala, also known as Luis Fierros, was sentenced on Tuesday. He was given six to eight years behind bars for robbing the store on April 20, Easter Sunday. Authorities say Ayala was 17 at the time.

Police say a store clerk reported that a man walked in and demanded money from the register as he pointed a silver revolver at the clerk's face. As the robber turned and ran out, a police sergeant who was passing by noticed him around the same time the clerk sounded an alarm. The sergeant says the man dropped the money and gun before being taken into custody.
