Scripps Networks beats 3Q profit and revenue expectations


KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. (SNI) on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $124.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the Knoxville, Tennessee-based company said it had profit of 96 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and restructuring costs, were $1.06 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 97 cents per share.

The owner of cable channels HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel posted revenue of $776.1 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $763.7 million.

Scripps Networks shares have fallen 22 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 2 percent. The stock has declined 21 percent in the last 12 months.
