WASHINGTON — Snow falling across the mid-Atlantic region is expected to make for a slick and messy morning commute.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory Thursday for the Washington area, central Maryland, Baltimore and Delaware. A winter storm warning is in effect for parts of northern Virginia, southern Maryland and southern Delaware.
Forecasters say 2 to 4 inches of snow may accumulate in the Washington area and its suburbs in Maryland and Virginia. Snow is expected to be heaviest during the morning commute and will continue through the morning.
Farther south, forecasters say there could be 3 to 6 inches of snow accumulation in southern Maryland and central and eastern Virginia. In Delaware, forecasters are calling for 1 to 6 inches of snow, with more in Sussex County.
