Motorcyclist killed in collision with car in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, Delaware — Delaware State Police say a motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a car in Middletown.

It happened about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday on Summit Bridge Road. Troopers say 76-year-old Robert Fleish of Middletown was driving north when he tried to make a left turn onto Old Schoolhouse Road.

Police say Fleish drove into the path of a motorcycle operated by 50-year-old William Ewell of Bear. Investigators say the motorcycle hit the side of the car, and Ewell was thrown from the bike.

Ewell was pronounced dead at the scene. Fleish was not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
