WEST GLACIER, Montana — For the second month in a row, Glacier National Park has seen a record number of visitors.
The National Park Service says an estimated 675,119 people visited Glacier in August, about 1,700 more than the previous record set in August 1983.
July's nearly 700,000 visitors was a record for any month.
The year-to-date visitation was 1.88 million by the end of August, a 5.7 percent increase over the same period last year. The Flathead Beacon reports (http://bit.ly/1rBfWn6 ) year-end visitation is on pace to break the all-time mark of 2.20 million set in 2010 — the park's centennial.
