BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — A neighborhood development in Baton Rouge is adding more houses to its original plan.
Developer Richard Carmouche told The Times-Picayune (http://bit.ly/1dLH4Z9) that 100 lots are being added to The Settlement at Willow Grove, which is near Perkins Rowe and the Mall of Louisiana.
Original plans called for development of 300 lots.
Carmouche said sales in the original plan went more quickly than expected, sparking the plan to building more houses.
Construction crews broke ground on The Settlement at Willow Grove in February 2013.
To date, Carmouche said 225 homes have been built. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2017.
Its housing portion will include a mix of condominiums, townhomes, garden homes and houses. They will range from 1,300 to 7,000 square feet with prices running from about $292,500 to more than $1.5 million.
The development's commercial section will include four buildings. Tenants are being signed now.
"We're being picky on what we have to come in. We're hoping to build offices there. Hopefully, they primarily may be used by some of the residents who are attorneys, accountants, or in any other business," Carmouche said.
