FALL RIVER, Massachusetts — Fall River police say an 18-year-old man has been shot in the back as he tried to run away from three armed attackers.

The Herald News reports (http://bit.ly/1gTehLY) reports police say the teen's injury from the overnight shooting isn't believed to be life-threatening.

A police officer found him at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday in the area of Bay and Chace streets after getting a call about a shooting. The young man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police said the victim was approached by three men, and a physical fight broke out. The victim told police that when he saw the three men had handguns, he turned to run and then heard a "pop" sound and felt a sharp pain in his back.

Police said they found evidence at the scene and are investigating.
