BAYONNE, New Jersey — Assault charges have been filed against a northern New Jersey man who allegedly hit a friend with a car bumper during an argument.

Bayonne police tell The Jersey Journal (http://bit.ly/U4do7m) that 28-year-old city resident Warren Cuevas also faces weapons charges stemming from Saturday's fight.

Authorities say the victim stopped by Cuevas' home to pick up some personal items. The men soon started arguing, and Cuevas allegedly grabbed a detached car bumper that was on his porch and hit the victim on the left forearm.

The victim sought medical attention the next day and learned a bone in his forearm was fractured. The attack was reported to police, who issued a warrant for Cuevas' arrest.

It wasn't known Wednesday if Cuevas had retained an attorney.
