FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Bentonville knows a thing or two about what it takes to win a state championship, having won the Class 7A state title in each of the last two seasons — and three of the last five years.
The Tigers (10-1) hope to move a step closer to winning their third straight championship when they host Fayetteville in the state semifinals Friday night.
Led by senior quarterback Kasey Ford, Bentonville has rebounded from its only loss this season — a 31-21 defeat to No. 1 Springdale Har-Ber on Oct. 9 — with five straight wins, including last week's quarterfinal win over North Little Rock.
Among those wins is a 37-26 defeat of the high-scoring Bulldogs (10-2) three weeks ago.
These two teams have combined to win the last five Class 7A state titles, and it won't be a surprise if one of them makes it six straight next week — extending the West's championship streak overall to 11 years.
