SALT LAKE CITY — A lawyer for a Utah man accused of killing his wife says she likely shot herself accidently after grabbing her gun while still dripping wet from a shower.

Defense attorney Ronald Yengich argues Heidy Truman probably thought she heard an intruder. He says Conrad Truman called his wife's cellphone just before her death, showing he wasn't close enough to kill her.

The Daily Herald reports ( ) Conrad Truman's trial began Wednesday with prosecutors saying Heidy Truman body was found a in a pool of blood, indicating she couldn't have staggered out of the bathroom as her husband told police.

Prosecutors say Conrad Truman killed Heidy Truman for nearly $1 million of insurance money. The 25-year-old was shot in the head at the couple's Orem home in 2012.
