Driver cooperating with Reno police in accident that killed pedestrian


RENO, Nevada — Reno police say the driver of a car that struck and killed a pedestrian on the north side of town is cooperating with investigators.

Police identified the victim on Friday as 20-year-old Shane Tissychy-Ortero.

Investigators say the small passenger car was headed northbound on Clearacre Lane about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when he it hit Tissychy-Ortero on the roadway near Crystal Lane. He was taken to Renown Medical Center where he later was pronounced dead.

Police say neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in the accident.
