2 dead in Sand Springs house fire; 1 pronounced dead at scene, second dies in hospital

SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma — Two people are dead following an overnight house fire in a Tulsa suburb.

Sand Springs Deputy Fire Chief Justin Hall says firefighters removed a man and a woman from the structure and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Oklahoma Fire Marshal's Office says the man was hospitalized but died later from his injuries. The victims have not been identified.

Authorities were alerted to the blaze at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and say a survivor was taken to the hospital as a precaution for possible smoke inhalation.

Hall says a firefighter also suffered minor injuries while preparing to fight the blaze.

Officials are investigating to determine what caused the fire.
