KENESSAW, Georgia — Yonel Brown scored 22 points with seven rebounds and Kennesaw State topped South Carolina-Upstate 75-62 on Monday night.

Bernard Morena and Aubrey Williams scored 14 points apiece, and Kendrick Ray added 13 for the Owls (7-17, 3-5 Atlantic Sun). Kennesaw State shot nearly 47 percent and went 11 of 13 from the line.

USC Upstate (8-17, 2-6) was led by Michael Buchanan and Mike Cunningham with 14 points apiece. Philip Whittington had 12 points and six rebounds while Jure Span added 10 points.

Kennesaw State was up by one at the half. An eight-point spurt, including 3-pointers by Brown and Ray, pushed the lead to nine. Later, the Owls used a 12-0 run — mostly on inside baskets, and punctuated by Nigel Pruitt's dunk to end the run — to build a 69-50 lead with 4:34 to go.
