SWAT officers shoot, kill man during standoff in southwest Denver that lasted 5 ½ hours


DENVER — An investigation is underway after Denver SWAT officers shot and killed a man during a standoff that lasted 5 ½ hours.

Police went to the home in southwest Denver on Sunday evening after a report of a shooting. The 28-year-old man, who was the only one in the home, injured himself in the shooting but refused to leave.

Investigators have not released the suspect's name or any details about the shooting, which happened as officers forced their way into the home.

Two SWAT officers who were involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
