FALL RIVER, Massachusetts — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Fall River.

The Bristol County district attorney's office identified the victim on Saturday as 20-year-old Anthony Carvalho.

He was found in the street at the intersection of Osborne and Ridge streets at about 7:45 p.m. Friday. Carvalho was taken to St. Anne's Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 9 p.m.

Police said they responded after getting reports of gunshots in the area of Whipple and Osborne streets.

Police Lt. John DeMello told The Herald News (http://bit.ly/19b87C3) witnesses saw three men fleeing the scene. Mello said there were no reports of anyone else being injured.

Police and the district attorney's office asked anyone with information to contact investigators.
