UTICA, New York — A 32-year-old central New York man has been sentenced to 24 years to life in prison for beating his girlfriend's 1-year-old son to death.
Ian Gulbin pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the beating death of Brayden Gulbin last November in the rural town of Bridgewater, 45 miles southeast of Syracuse.
He admitted in Oneida County Court that he assaulted the child because he wouldn't go to sleep while his mother was working. Authorities say the toddler suffered skull fractures, internal bleeding and other injuries. Gulbin didn't seek medical attention and the boy eventually died in his bedroom.
Gulbin was sentenced by Oneida County Judge Michael Dwyer Thursday.
