SYCAMORE, Illinois — A DeKalb woman accused of killing a 15-month-old boy has been found mentally fit to stand trial.

Jessica Breuer is charged with murder and aggravated battery in the death of John Hawks. She faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.

Authorities say the boy bit Breuer when she was watching him on April 23. They say Breuer was so angry she squeezed the boy's neck for 10 to 12 minutes while his mother slept nearby.

Police say Breuer called 911 when she realized the boy's body had gone limp. He was taken to a hospital with a brain injury and later died.

The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle ( ) reports Breuer's public defender accepted the Kane County Diagnostics Center evaluation. But he says his client is still having hallucinations.

Breuer is due back in court next month.
