PORTLAND, Oregon — A wet Saturday broke two records in Portland.

With 1.8 inches of rain, Portland set a new record, bypassing the 1.76 inches of rain that fell on the date in 1976.

And the 59 degree high temperature on Saturday matched the record set in 1975.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/fQOAnG ) all that rain sent some untreated sewage into the Willamette River.

Officials say the river will remain unsafe for humans and their pets from the Morrison Bridge to the Columbia River until 48 hours after the sewer system stops overflowing.

The forecast called for more rain on Sunday and Monday, but not as much as Saturday's downpour.

The weather service is predicting snow in the Cascades and isolated thunderstorms on the coast.
