REVERE, Massachusetts — A Revere fire official says they have received reports of partial building and roof collapses after a powerful storm blew through the city.
The National Weather Service says it will investigate to determine whether a tornado may have touched down in the Revere area Monday morning.
Revere Deputy Fire Chief Mike Viviano said the Fire Department has received dozens of calls reporting partial building and roof collapses, and downed trees and power lines.
Viviano said there were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
A powerful storm moved through the Boston-area shortly after 9 a.m., prompting the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning for portions of Essex County, north of the city.
Meteorologist Kim Buttrick from the weather service office in Taunton said the warning was issued when rotation was seen within the storm.
