Winter weather causes school closures, delays across mid-Atlantic region

WASHINGTON — A snow storm moving through the mid-Atlantic region during the morning commute is leading to many school closures and delays.

In northern Virginia, schools in Arlington and Alexandria, as well as Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun counties will be closed.

In Maryland, schools are closed in Montgomery, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's counties are closed. Schools in Baltimore are also closed Thursday.

Many school districts in Delaware also closed due to the weather, including Cape Henlopen, Delmar, Indian River, Lake Forest, Laurel, Milford, Seaford and Woodbridge school districts.

Schools in the District of Columbia also are scheduled to open two-hours late Thursday due to the snow.

Federal employees also have a two-hour delay in the Washington area due to the winter weather.
